What was business and life like before you joined GID School?
My business Acorn to Oak had been on hold for about a year as I was recovering from a serious health issue. In the summer of 2015, I had thrown myself into the challenge to run an open workshop and proved that I had the energy to get back to work so when I initially spoke with Karen, I was looking to regain my business focus and confidence again.
Those first few months working on the foundations of my business and relaunching my workshops and retreats was integral to kick starting 2016. That one, simple email you asked me to send out which resulted in over 250 requests for a consultation with me helped me realise that my client community was ready to have me back again!
How has The Academy benefitted you and your business?
The Academy helped in stopping me being frightened of technology. My business was incredibly successful back in the 90’s but two decades on, it needed bringing up to date. With the help and support of the group and the specific advice from Karen, I am now putting together content in a logical fashion to create online courses and monthly membership support programmes that work along side my higher priced retreats and workshops.

Facebook Ads and landing pages were something I would previously run away from and thus limited my business because of my lack of confidence in these areas. But now, you’ve released these limitations and opened up the doors of opportunity to me.
Helping me hire the right team has also hugely helped me unlock my business potential. Bringing in my affiliates and developing trainers from my team has been instrumental in growing our Acorn To Oak community and we’ve now got the next 18 months of events and retreats scheduled.
We’ve also got robust systems and scalable processes going in place which has meant we’ve been able to offer ongoing membership support (giving us valuable monthly recurring payments) and creating processes, such as early bird bookings, has helped with cash flow and promotion of the bigger retreats.
I am now able to think of 100 things at the same time and because I have the processes in place, my team and I can now systematically map out what needs doing so we can implement and get things done with ease.
What words of advice would you give to someone considering working with Karen?
Do it! Simple as that. It may feel like a large investment, but the whole process that Karen lays out in The Academy keeps you on track. I had no hesitation to first joining GID School and then stepping up into The Academy.
When you put that amount of investment, you want to get that investment back which I’ve certainly done with the sustainable growth of my business.
