Overwhelmed, overworked or underpaid?
I’m Karen Skidmore and I specialise in helping my clients design, create and run a True Profit Business; a business that fuels you purposefully, creatively and financially. I started my own coaching and consulting business back in 2004 and over the past 15 years, I’ve run my own business on a number of different business models, including a hugely successful membership model and sold dozens of different online courses and group programmes, with prices ranging from £30 to £15,000.
Today I work with service professionals, consultants, coaches and spiritual leaders who have been in business for 2+ years and now feel ready to scale up but don’t want to burn out in the process.
Burn out is rife right now. Our start-up culture here in the UK and the US celebrates hustle-and-grind and hard work, and yet sells us the passive income dream and laptop freedom lifestyle. This social pressure to achieve, crush goals and build 6 or 7 figure businesses, has resulted in exhaustion for many of us. Fatigue illnesses, stress and hormone imbalances have become serious problems for many business owners, particularly those of us in our 40’s, 50’s and beyond, and I want to put a stop to this.
Book this 45-minute call with me and you’ll discover exactly what to prioritise and where to focus your energies right now to get the growth you want.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this session take place?
What do I need to do to prepare for my call?
I’d recommend you create time to collect your thoughts at least 10 minutes before our call is due to start and grab yourself a glass of water or a cup of tea/coffee. Plus schedule another 20 to 30 minutes after our call to allow you to process our discussion and diarise the actions we decide you should take.
Finally, you’ll need a notebook and pen for taking notes and make sure you’re in a place that you won’t be disturbed. Don’t book this session while you’re travelling, for example, or working in a public place such as a coffee shop. This is your time to work ON your business, not IN your business.
How long is the session?
Who is Karen Skidmore?
I had high hopes in my first year and my bright eyes and bushy tail meant that I threw myself into my new life of self-employment. Within six months I created my European Social Funded Women’s Enterprise Programme, sponsored by The University of Surrey, which was instrumental in helping hundreds of women start up their own businesses. I founded a regional women’s networking group in 2005, created & ran a 100+ membership site for 3 years, wrote my first book in 2012, launched dozens of online courses and group programmes over the past 15 years and have a publishing contract for my second book coming out this year
But in 2013, struggling with peri-menopausal symptoms and adrenal fatigue, I was knackered from constantly launching new programmes and marketing campaigns. The constant hustle was exhausting. I wanted to play a bigger game but to enable my business to grow and for me to reach my full potential, it was no longer a case of “work harder”. I had to change the way I worked in my business and create the right infrastructure, processes and team to support the work that fulfilled me.
I now work with clients with their own True Profit Business; to show them how to have a purposeful, fulfiling and profitable business. I firmly believe that with the right business model, team and systems in place, you too can create your own profit and growth on your terms, too.
I love Karen's straight talking, no-bullshit approach.
Perfect mix of down to earth advice, encouragement & kick up the backside
“The prospect of launching and promoting my first online product felt overwhelming, scary and lonely. So many new technologies to learn. Plus the prospect of writing sales letters filled me with horror. Karen gave me the perfect mix of down to earth marketing advice, positive encouragement, combined with the (gentle and friendly) kick up the backside I needed. Not only did the product launch successfully (without technical glitches), it also met sales targets.”
I worked with Karen Skidmore to help me create a successful and profitable web business, with as many tasks as possible automated. Her skill in breaking down what seems to be a rather daunting task into extremely manageable bite size chunks. As a result you finish the session confident that it’s all very manageable.
When I came to Karen, my business was at a bit of a low point and I was struggling to get clear on the way forward. Doing more of the same obviously wasn’t the answer, but working out what was, along with the motivation to make it happen was proving hard.
Karen gave me clarity, a business model that works and loads of common sense advice and encouragement. With her help I’ve got my mojo back, my business is flourishing, and I’m serving my clients better than ever before.
Karen is the real deal. She gives proper, down to earth, relevant advice and support. She’s not one of those ‘gurus’ who throws a load of hype your way and leaves you to find out later that it’s not actually relevant to your own situation. She listens, she thinks, and she tailors her expert advice. She’s easily the best coach and mentor I’ve ever had.
Gave me focus on what matters
“As a creative person who is motivated by action rather than committing to a strategic vision, working with Karen and using this planning process of hers was the most productive I’ve been in years. Karen’s planning process helped me focus on what matters right now versus having a massive list of stuff that makes me feel so overwhelmed I get nothing done.”
What I love about working with Karen is that she lives and breathes the simplicity principle. She understands what each person needs for their business and guides them down the simplest and most productive path to achieve their goals. Her advice and counsel helps to quiet all the chatter in my head and calm the creative whirlwind.
